A farmer's house along the Ancient Road of Mules and Horses
-
During the third general census of cultural relics in Hunan Province, an ancient road built during the Qin Dynasty (221–206 b.c.) was discovered around the environs of Dengjiatang Village, Chenzhou City in the province.
The Ancient Road of Mules and Horses
This roadway served as an important communications route two thousand years ago. "That ancient road is comparable to today's highway from Beijing to Zhuhai," Xie Wujing, an ancient road specialist in the Hunan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau said.
"Hoof prints are still obvious on some of the slates. They couldn't have been formed in this way without hundreds of years of trampling," He Qiang, the deputy director of Cultural Relics Bureau of Hunan Province, said on October 11, 2007. -

The Jiayu Pass, the western starting point of the existing Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) in Gansu Province, is a historic attraction for tourists from both home and abroad.
I visited the pass along with a group of nine employees from Shenzhen's Guan Shanyue Art Museum on Sept. 20 after visiting the Dunhuang Grottoes. This was the second time I had been to the attraction I first visited in 1995.
When we arrived at the pass at around 9:30 AM, I immediately noticed a number of environmental changes had been made. -

The ancient wall of Jingzhou City
The Jingzhou ancient wall was first built ... -
Last year China made a list of sites waiting to apply for the world heritage list. The ancient city walls in three cities, Nanjing City of Jiangsu Province, Xingcheng City of Liaoning Province, and Xi'an City of Shaanxi Province, were list as one unit for China's ancient city walls of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Another city, Jingzhou City of Hubei Province was added to the application at the Forum of Scientific Protection for Ancient City Walls, which opened on October 12.
According to the forum, China has more than 100 ancient city walls under protection, most of which were built after the Ming Dynasty because of the "building high city walls" policy raised by Zhu Yuanzhang, or the Emperor Hongwu, who founded the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). -
